| | July 12, 2008 - UPSCALED SUMMER CONDIMENTS | While most of you know that the Cuisinettes love to cook together, you may not be aware of the lengths we have gone to in our quest for improved details. We all love a good hamburger, and have pretty much achieved our version of perfection. Believe it or not, we have also done extensive research to find the best hot dog, and after many "gourmet" samplings, Nathan’s won hands-down. We then moved on to the condiments, and challenged ourselves to try to improve upon the old stand-bys.Today you can test our selections for yourselves. We will be offering tastings of our new Fallot Dijon Mustards from France in classic, tarragon, seed style, and green peppercorn. Our mayonnaise choice is from Delouis, and our grand coup was the discovery of an organic ketchup at the Food Show last year. Nancy doesn’t "do" ketchup, but we convinced her to try this one, and now she’s a believer. This is a product of Spain, and has a very complex, full flavor, without being overly sweet. We are confident that you will all enjoy these improvements to your summertime favorites.
Tasting will be held from 11:00AM until 5:00PM. There will be a 15% discount on all tasting related items.

| | July 13, 2008 - CHILDREN’S COOKING CLASSES - LET’S DO LUNCH! (ages 6-8 yrs) MORNING CLASS | It has been our experience that all kids love to cook. They enjoy interacting with the family to produce something really good, not dumbed down. These are classes that we have wanted to do for a very long time, but just didn’t have a teacher. That problem was resolved when we were approached by Alicia Cherry, a graduate of the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts. Alicia is currently a second grade teacher with Arlington Public Schools in Virginia, and loves to teach children to cook in her "spare time".
This morning class will be for children from ages 6-8, and they will learn hands on basic cooking skills, kitchen safety, and healthy eating. The menu today will be composed of chicken salad cookie cutter sandwiches, fruit kabobs, and vanilla milk.
All classes will be held at La Cuisine, and doors will open at 9:30 AM and close at 1:00 PM, to allow you some shopping time. The cost for this class is $30.00 plus a $25.00 materials fee, which will include a carry-home bag of useful kitchen tools. All food ingredients will be provided.
The class size is limited to six so each student can get personalized attention from Ms. Cherry. These classes will sell out quickly, so please sign up soon. Once you sign up on-line,you will receive an invoice confirmation, and also a confirmation letter from us with links to print out your coupon.(If your Spam filter is set very high, the confirmation letter may not be able to get through to you. If that should happen, just email stephanie@lacuisineus.com and let her know.) We also ask that you mark your calendars with the date, as these are the only notifications you will receive.
Please note that the class will begin promptly at 10:00AM, so plan to allow yourself plenty of time to get here. We are unable to issue refunds for class cancellations.

| | July 19, 2008 - OOH LA LA! JULIA’S FRENCH LENTIL SALAD | Two years ago when we visited our dear friends in France, Julia served this lovely salad on our first day as part of our welcome lunch. It is healthy, light and delicious on the first day, and only gets more flavorful with time. This recipe makes a rather large portion, but we enjoyed the leftovers on at least two subsequent picnics. Nancy has shared the recipe with you in lastSummer’s newsletter, but we wanted you to actually taste it. We hope you can stop by today.

| | July 26, 2008 - TRY OUR FABULOUS NUT OILS! | For several years, we have carried the J.Leblanc Walnut and Hazelnut oils from France. We have now expanded our line to include their Almond,Pecan, and Pistachio oils as well. Their flavors are so fresh, pure, and delightful that they enhance anything they touch. We use them in vinaigrettes, drizzled over roasted vegetables or meats, but they can also be used to replace the "cooking oil" in your very special cake or nut bread recipes. Please plan to stop by and try them.
