February 20, 2010 - SIMPLY THE BEST HOT CHOCOLATE
We were very fortunate to discover the Chocolat en Poudre a l’ancienne powdered chocolate at the New York Fancy Food Show a few years ago. Created in Paris, it is served in many of the finest hotels and restaurants there, but is not available for retail there. Made with excellent cocoa beans, and finished with raw sugar and Madagascar vanilla, this decadent chocolate, when blended with hot milk (or even better, cream!),is by far the best we have found. We hope you can stop in and warm up with this extraordinary cocoa.

Tasting will be held from 11:AM until 5:00PM. There will be a 15% discount on all tasting related items.

February 27, 2010 - ADD SOME ZIP TO THOSE WINTER SALADS
At this time of year, when the greens and produce are not so exciting any more, we look for ways to jazz up our salads and dishes. Today you can taste a couple of products that promise to do just that.

Many of the balsamic vinegars from Modena in the under $50.00 price range are suspect. This one from Maletti in Soliera is remarkable for the price and the density and depth of flavor. There are no artificial colorants or additives in this unusualy blend of local Lambrusco and Trebbiano varietals. This balsamic was quite a find, as it tastes like a much more mature one at a fraction of the price.

Our second selection is the DeLouis Fig Vinegar. Using the Italian production technology and traditions of aceto balsamico, the Delouis staff has carmelized tons of figs (over 5 pounds per bottle) and enhanced a fig based vinegar. What you get as the lucky consumer, is a fabulous addition to sauces for duck, pork and game, and salads.

We hope to see you. Tasting will be held from 11:00AM-5:00PM and there will be a 15% discount on all tasting related items.
